When it comes to email management software/tools it seems to come down to a handfull of options.

AWeber and GetResponse seem to be the two most popular hosted web based email making packages.

What I like about get response is that it has a LOT of features. So (if you can work it out) you can customise it a fair bit.

There is a free version that you can try out. The only difference is that when your emails go out to your list they will have other members (paid) ads within the emails. Which is ok if you just want to test it out.

The unlimited autoresponders, broadcasts and mailing lists is nice.

Another nice thing about GetResponse (and 3rd party hosted web email packages) is that the delivery rate is pretty good. So you don't have to worry about your mailing server being blacklisted or your messages not being delivered. That's part of the service you're paying for. With another service I noticed a lot of the emails were being blocked and not being delivered. I feel more confident in GetResponse deliverying my emails.

From memory once you reach a certain number of subscribers (like lots) you have to pay extra.

The flip side is that with the flexibility comes complexity.

For example I wanted to turn off mandatory Confirmation email (when people subscribe to my mailing list they would be emailed a confirmation link which they need to click).

It took me a few goes to turn off this double-opt-in option as it's a bit criptic as to what you have to do.

I did email support and get some vague answers but I worked it out eventually with a bit of trial and error.

Aside from that not much to fault really. Lots of features which you'd probably never use but might one day.
